The Coalition has a strong plan to significantly boost respite services to assist thousands of Australians caring for older people and people with disabilities.
Under our plan, a coalition Government will provide 120,000 extra individual days and 10,000 additional full weeks of round the clock respite care each year at a cost of $223.5 million over five years.
This will provide our 10,000 carers with at least one fully funded eight hour day of respite each month and one full week-24-hours a day – each year. |

Tuesday, 13 November 2007 |
For too long families have had to put up with hoons and vandals on our local streets. That is why the Coalition has a long term plan to make communities safer for local families and residents.
Through careful management of our $1.1 trillion economy, the Coalition has ensured funds are available for important crime prevention projects which State Labor Governments have failed to deliver.
The Coalition Government is working with local communities to come up with innovative ways to improve community safety and prevent crime. |

The Coalition Government has a strong plan to recognise further those who have served in the defence of Australia by enhancing the Saluting Their Service programme.
A re-elected Coalition Government will:
-
increase the maximum grant for maintenance and construction of community memorials from $4,000 to $10,000;
-
streamline grant applications for the repair of memorials that have been vandalised; and
- change the guidelines so that communities can erect commemorative statues of local Victoria Cross winners at their place of
birth.

Our Family Emergency Medical Centres will provide a practical and family-friendly alternative to public hospital emergency departments at nights and on weekends, as well as regular GP services.
We’ll also enable more patients to be treated for minor emergencies by their own GP, and support GPs to provide more after hours services.
As well as providing more family-friendly medical care, these Centres will help to take the pressure off public hospital emergency departments so they have more time to cope with critical and life-threatening cases. |

Strong Plan for Tax Relief |
|

Monday, 05 November 2007 |
The Coalition Government’s plan for tax relief does more than help families with their household budgets. It will make Australia stronger by rewarding hard work and initiative.
The plan for tax relief will also make it easier for those in part-time work.
This substantial, $34 billion plan will deliver tax relief of around $20 a week to the average income earner (rising to around $35 in 2010).
A family with a breadwinner on average earnings and a partner in part-time work will get tax relief of around $30 per week (rising to
around $50 per week in 2010). |

The Coalition Government has a strong plan to increase the availability of doctors, nurses and specialists working in public hospitals and local GP family clinics.
More Australian Trained Doctors and Nurses
Across Australia, our strong plan will expand the number of GP training places from 600 to 900 per year over the next four years – that’s a 50% increase.
More Practice Nurses and Home Visits to the Frail Aged
Our commitment to families and preventative care will be strengthened by extending to all GP surgeries eligibility for funding for practice nurses. Through our plan, it is expected that three quarters of all GP surgeries will have a practice nurse - helping provide better health care for families in their local community. |

The Coalition has a strong plan to achieve a goal of 3% unemployment over the next three years, and keep it there.
To achieve this, we must provide specialised training opportunities for
our young people and ensure people of all ages can train and re-train.
Building on the Coalition Government’s $2.9 billion annual investment in skills training, theCoalition will establish a further
100 Australian Technical Colleges – in addition to the 28 already underway. |
