The Coalition has a comprehensive plan to help parents choose the best way to give their children the best start in life.
A re-elected Coalition Government will help Australian parents invest in their children’s future and increase their education opportunities by introducing a refundable tax rebate for a broad range of education expenses.
This new tax rebate will cover education expenses, including school fees for every student from preschool until the end of secondary school.
The rebate for secondary school will be up to $800 annually for each student. The rebate for primary and preschool will be up to $400 annually for each child.
It will apply to education expenses incurred from 1 January 2008, including school fees and voluntary contributions, at government and non-government schools and preschools (in the year before children start school).
More than 2.1 million families will be able to claim education expenses for 3.6 million Australian children.
This rebate builds on the Coalition’s initiatives to support parents, including through the Baby Bonus, Family Tax Benefit (B) to support parents who want to stay at home to care for their children, and increased child care places and subsidies to support those who
want to work. |
