The election is about Australia’s future. It’s about the
leadership Australia needs right now to stay strong, prosperous and
secure.
Australia has come a long way in the last decade based on the hard work
of all Australians and the tough decisions of the Coalition. Now
we must make Australia even stronger.
Click on picture to view Chinese version This will not happen automatically. It will happen not through new leadership or old leadership. It requires the right leadership.
The right leadership is the team that knows how to do the
job. The right leadership has the experience to further expand
Australia’s prosperity and to ensure that everyone gets a fair share of
it. |

On the eve of this election I would like to thank all the people who
have supported me throughout the campaign. I complete this campaign
with positive feelings of how many local people have called in with
words of support. I have been surprised at the number of children who
have called on behalf of elderly parents in the electorate asking me to
speak with them and to drop off materials. Many elderly people are
afraid of the Internet or do not have the ability to connect. Moving
forward there is a community responsibility to assist our elderly
citizens to connect to the richness of the online world. Online voting
can't be far away either. It would certainly save an almighty waste of
resources.
To friends, family, supporters, senators, ministers, councillors,
Liberal Party staff and those amazing volunteers who do have the time to
give yet still find the time, thank you.
Finally I would like to thank my campaign manager Edward Mandla for the
amazing job he has done in, strategising, fundraising, rallying support
and his overall "can do" attitude. His ability to multi task, prioritise
and ask for support never fails to surprise me. |

The Coalition has a comprehensive plan to help parents choose the best way to balance their family and work responsibilities, so that they can take advantage of the opportunities in our strong and growing economy.
That’s why since 1996, the Coalition Government has doubled the number of child care places; increased financial subsidies to cut the cost of child care for families; and has raised the quality of child care services.
From April 2008, a re-elected Coalition Government will pay the 30 per cent Child Care Tax Rebate directly to child care services so that they can pass on this benefit to parents immediately, when they need it most.
This will have the effect of cutting by 30 per cent the amount parents have to pay upfront to their child care service each week. |
